Preserving the Documented Record

The African American Historical Archive is an independent digital preservation project dedicated to organizing and presenting primary source materials documenting the lived experiences, laws, policies and institutions that shaped the history and contributions of African Americans.

Beginning with slavery through Reconstruction (1619-1877), this archive curates public-domain documents and historical records to ensure that the historical record remains accessible, intact, and available to future generations.
